Feminism arose in Britain and the USA at the end of the 19th century. This moment has come - women could choose their future ruler, but this happened only in 1920 - before that, only men were allowed to vote.
It is worth noting that in the USSR, the right to vote for women was recorded in the constitution of 1918, since gender equality was included in the ideology of socialism. But there is a question - if women have the right to vote, why are they still fighting for equality?
Unfortunately, women are still subject to violence, sexism in their own families, and men have more salaries ... It's not only about being able to vote, there are a number of problems that need to be solved.
10. Women and men are different biologically, how can we talk about equality?
“Biologically, we are all different, and when it comes to the army, hard work, then feminism ends at this point. Women turn into fragile creatures that cannot do male work. The idea of equality in itself is absurd, ”says Alexander, 39 years old.
And he himself answered to some extent the question - the difference is only in physiological characteristics, but men and women are people, why not just do it for everyone who wants and can do what?
If there is no difference in mental abilities (except physiological), then why should inequality be observed in political and other issues? In addition, many women work in jobs that are prohibited for them.
9. Russian women are already almost on a par with men, what are they fighting for?
Achieved equality is just a myth. It is known that a man holding the same position as a woman receives a higher salary.
In Russia, women are limited in their careers, among managers, there are very few directors. And this is not connected with reluctance, they simply are not allowed in - all serious responsible posts are occupied by men, and in the Public Position no more than 15% of women.
And this despite the fact that in our country there is no shortage of women, on the contrary, according to research, there are even more of them. The struggle is for the opportunity to realize themselves, their capabilities.
8. Feminists are fighting for equality, which means they can carry heavy bags themselves?
The question itself sounds paradoxical, because it is women who carry heavy bags. Have you seen men carrying grocery bags? In women with two hands holding bags, you can see a lot.
While women go grocery shopping, cook food, take care of a summer cottage, men walk around with cigarettes in their pockets or chat with friends in a bar.
7. How about payment in a restaurant or other establishment? Do feminists pay for themselves?
When a man pays a woman a bill in a restaurant, this often means that after dinner there will be a continuation, that is, he bribes her. You do not need to consider the fair sex as a commodity, sometimes she just wants to eat, and she can pay for herself.
But let’s imagine one situation - the man understands that his female colleague is not paid as much as he, although they do the same job, and decides to somehow correct the injustice. He feeds her in a restaurant, then goes with her to the market and buys her the necessary products, brings packages to the apartment, and then leaves.
Any feminist will only appreciate such help, but she does not believe that any man can do something for free.
6. Can a feminist be offended if a man opens her door or lends a helping hand?
If a man wants to help a woman with heavy bags and opens the door for her in the store, helps a disabled person or mother with children - this is polite, and there is nothing wrong with that. But if a man begins to play, portrays politeness, so that he likes the person he likes, then this is a violation of her personal space.
A woman is not prey; she does not need to be attracted by various tricks. Before caring for any woman, you need to ask her, and she needs it?
5. Why can't you live in peace: is it nice when a strong male shoulder is nearby?
This is a very controversial issue, and also a strange one. Why is a man so keen to protect a woman from whom? It turns out that in most cases he has to protect her from himself, his sexual counterparts ...
But isn’t it easier to just not touch anyone, then you don’t have to protect? But if there is no one to protect a woman from, she may not really need a man nearby ... This question scares men most of all, because they feel attractive only being necessary.
Being protected is perhaps a pleasure, but not very reliable. For protection, a woman should sexually serve a man, sit at home with children and do homework. For what?
4. Can a feminist be feminine?
It depends on what everyone invests in this concept. We live in a world in which high heels, tight dresses, sex appeal, or, on the contrary, modesty and timidity are mistaken for femininity.
It turns out a whole set of stamps, and if we are talking about them, then no, it cannot, because a woman fighting for her rights is nothing like an image that men like. She can express herself as she wants.
3. Some companies invite women to work, and if a man is more suitable?
If before women could not “break through” to a serious leadership position (they were reluctantly let in), then maybe the time has come to change the situation?
A woman can get an education, practice in a good place, gain experience and climb up. To become in some business no worse than a man. If they have and have always had privileges in society, then why can't women have them?
2. Are there male feminists, and are they common?
There are men who support feminism, but it’s hard for them to avoid “menpleining” in conversation with women (in order to explain something, they resort to simple wording, as if sorting everything out on shelves, making a discount on the female gender).
More respect is given to professionalists - they try to listen to the interests of the opposite sex and support the ideas of feminism, but do not adjoin the community.
1. Google engineer fired due to gender stereotypes, is it terrible?
It is very good when there are “smart” employees, but despite their knowledge in various fields, this is not always the most important. A Google employee pointed out that women and men are biologically different, and it’s more difficult for women to make progress in technology companies.
Google executives decided that it’s important to preserve the dignity of the female part of employees, and dismiss the employee who promotes gender stereotypes. But one can doubt his mind ... neither a sexist, nor a racist, etc., a priori can wear the title of “smart man” because their thinking is limited.
